Our Problems : A matter of perspective and choice.

When I was 12 I had great dilemma on choosing between cartoons to watch.

When I was 16, I had great dilemma on choosing between faculties to study.

I am 19 now, and well let’s say, I can’t categorize my problems as per particular priority. What I have learnt in these times is that, every problem I have faced was and is just a matter of my perspective and choice. But with our perspective and choice a factor we need to consider is our definition of Normal.

Let’s start with ‘Normal’

I am amazed to see how some of us claim ‘that they are living a normal life’ or complain ‘how they want to live a normal life’. These claims and complains just amazes me.

Approximately 150 million km away from us lies a giant big fireball constantly conflicting with itself; ready to burst and fire up a flare right at us. We are also trapped inside this blue ball which is constantly pulling us towards its surface. We are practically living inside a gas ball which has grasped us till the end of times.
Not to mention, this ball is also revolving around a explosive which can wipe out the entire civilization. Yet we call ‘living here’ as being normal.

If living under these conditions is normal then nothing in your life can be seen as a problem.
The time you broke your hand playing basketball is normal.
The time you had a car accident is just another normal day.
The time America dropped ‘FAT MAN’ & ‘LITTLE BOY’ on Japan was just another event.
Every action, event is normal here.  But normal won’t stay normal forever.

In time, anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
– Murphy’s Law

What we fail to realize is that in this timeline of our life, most of the things will go wrong, we will be forced to stand against iron doors and life will force us to choose between them. We will face challenges, our decisions and choices will create havoc, maybe huge magnitudes of problems. But this is all natural. We need to find a reasonable perspective which is both logical and ethical.

Let’s talk about our problems and our choices.

Choice is an act of hesitation that we make before making a decision.
– Alan Watts.

Sometime our problems arises due to our decision, sometime it arises due to our intuition of decision, sometime it arises due to a mistake. The variables from which a problem can grow are infinite.

Choice is a variable that can create problem instantly as well solve it in fractions of second. If you can see it, our life is just another tree diagram phasing on with choices. Have you ever given a thought, ‘What if our life is just another phenomenon of information and series of choices which manages to ensure its continued existence. A vicious circle of moral choices.’ With every choice we are going to make there is certainty of creation of a problem. Sometime our problems are evident even if we refuse to make a choice.

With reference to Murphy’s law, a variable I can introduce here is time.
When we finally realise that not only our life is a journey completely linked and bracketed with time and the real reason for our existence is for self-realization, we also come to a conclusion that everything that is right right now will go wrong in future. Then, we won’t need to find a solution for the problem, we only need to understand the the complexity of the problem.

Sometime our problem will be inexplicable. Sometime we will not be able to find a solution to it, even with different perspectives. But that doesn’t mean our problem isn’t solvable fundamentally, what we can do at these times is to let our efforts to solve our problem as well as our problem to drift along time. And at a certain point in time, our time will solve the problem itself. And then you will suddenly see through the solution and realise how easy it was. These are the struggles and experiences you are granted with your human existence. This very attribute sets you apart from other living things.

Let’s talk about our perspective.

Our life and it’s problems are like a camera zoomed and focused to a bee on a flower. The only problem we have is that, our frame is confined to the bee defocusing everything on the background. Most of the time the easiest and effective thing to do is to zoom out of the flower and look at the whole frame of garden. What I mean is that every problem we are facing right now would have been solved long before if only we asked ourselves “What else could this mean?”

Another reason we always face unworthy problems is our perspective of similarity. Although everyone knows that no two human being may retain similar ideologies, we fail to accept it in a practical sense. We create problems with our mind even when there isn’t any actual problem. This is due to our perspective on differences.

I personally believe that the atrocity of having similarities are far greater than having differences. To be fair, differences of individual perspectives helps us to  refine our understanding of  something. But also, we are living a self-important egoistic life where only we and our opinion are superior over everything and this creates the false reality of right perspective. Due to this fact we consider us as being right and our perspective being honest and legit.

Sometime we also reach to a point where we can’t stand illogical things. But what we fail to see is that things that seems illogical to us may be perfectly rational to another human and this difference of how we perceive things causes problems in our ideologies. You can’t possibly compare two images of Mount Everest; one taken from Everest Base Camp and another from a Space Station and say that either one is false or ‘imprecise’, can you? Although both of the image are correct; respective to their nature.

What we need to learn is that, we should never take anything for a fact, it’s ever and always a matter of interpretation and perspective.

Every problem we faced, we face, we will face isn’t a problem of great deal if you succeed to look at a bigger picture or look through a different lens.

Nobody choose to have a narrow mind, but also, very few give effort to look at things through a different perspective. If you take a step back, choose a different vantage point and look at the same thing you may get answers to all your problems or even realise that it wasn’t a problem at the first place. Everyone is on the right side, but in a practical, real life sense everyone may only be on the illusion of being on the right side.

At the end, your problems, your choices, your perspective are co-dependent part of your life and the principle is, your life is a cycle of managing these every second every day every time. Without your problems, your choices and a different perspective, you are just another animal with limited consciousness.
